Search warrants end with arrests; Drugs and weapons off the streets of Sarasota

SARASOTA, Fla. - August 22, 2013 – 10:30 a.m.

On Wednesday, members of the Sarasota Police Department Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of the Street Crimes Unit and Bureau of Patrol, executed simultaneous search warrants at 1440 MLK Jr. Way and 1442 MLK Jr. Way, Sarasota.

This is a result of complaints of narcotics sales.   Both of these residences are located in the Janie Gardens Housing Complex. 

Lt. Pat Ledwith, Bureau of Criminal Investigations added, “These search warrants are part of the Sarasota Police Safe Streets Initiative and our continuing effort to eliminate drugs and gun violence from our neighborhoods.”

As a result of a search warrant at 1440 MLK Jr. Way, one man was arrested and marijuana and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Charges:
Obstruction of Justice
Possession of Marijuana less than 20 Grams
As a result of a search warrant at 1442 MLK Jr. Way, Sarasota, one man was arrested and powder cocaine, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and two firearms were seized.


Arrested:
Terrence L. Timmons Jr.  (Timmons has five felony convictions and served prior prison time for trafficking in narcotics)

Possession of Cocaine with Intent to Sell Within 1000 feet of a Daycare
Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Possession of Ammunition by a Convicted Felon
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of Marijuana less than 20 Grams.
