The Emergency Manager works with all Charter Officials and their subordinate departments to develop and maintain programs to save lives and protect property in the event of natural or man-made disasters. The Emergency Manager serves as the City’s representative for planning and coordination with Sarasota County and other jurisdictions within our region.
Emergency Management continues to maintain our City’s “Storm Ready” designation from the National Weather Service as well as participating in the Multi-Jurisdiction Local Mitigation Strategy Working Group and the City’s Floodplain Management Planning Committee.
Tips for Hurricane Season
- Be prepared with three days of supplies such as water, food, batteries, first aid, etc.
- Don’t forget about your pets! They also need food and water.
- Gather your important documents.
- Review insurance documents to ensure they are up to date.
