Traffic Investigative Unit

This highly specialized unit is responsible for traffic enforcement, traffic homicide investigations, special operations and events, and dignitary escorts. This Unit also conducts numerous operations throughout the year including “Click It or Ticket,” “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “High Visibility Enforcement” and “Don’t Block the Box”, all intended to make the streets within the City of Sarasota safer for everyone.

Marine Patrol Unit

Navigating the Intercoastal and Gulf waters, this unit is responsible for enforcing marine laws and ordinances, investigating boating accidents and related crimes, responding to critical incidents on the water, and providing high-visibility patrol in the City’s waterways. The Marine Patrol officers proactively promote boating safety education to those who operate watercraft in the area and assist the Department’s Underwater Search and Recovery (Dive) Team with recovery and investigative efforts for water accidents and fatalities.
