Sarasota Police Collect More than 40 Pounds of Unwanted Drugs During National Take-Back Day
On Saturday, October 27, 2018, Officers with the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit collected 44.5 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescriptions drugs during the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Sarasota Police hosting ‘Tweet from the Beat’ on Wednesday, October 17, 2018
The Sarasota Police Department will take social media followers on “virtual ride-along.” Wednesday, October 17, 2018, beginning at 7:30 a.m., Twitter users can “ride along” for another ‘Tweet from the Beat’ with Traffic Unit Officers during day shift as they focus on high visibility enforcement.

Two People Arrested In Connection to 11 Vehicle Burglaries
Two adults have been arrested following a vehicle burglary early Monday morning. The investigation revealed both individuals were also involved in burglarizing at least 10 other vehicles during the same night.

Tory Mitchell, 20, of Palmadelia Avenue, Sarasota, has been arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine (felony), Carrying a Concealed Firearm (felony), Possession of Marijuana under 20 grams (misdemeanor) and received a citation for a tint violation following a traffic stop on Saturday.
