Sarasota Police to host Click It or Ticket Edition of ‘Tweet from the Beat’
The Sarasota Police Department will take social media followers on another “virtual ride-along.” On Tuesday, May 28, 2019, beginning at 8 a.m., Twitter users can “ride along” for another ‘Tweet from the Beat’ with the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Unit.

Memorial Day Parade Road Closures & Holiday Safety Reminders
The annual Memorial Day Parade will be held on Monday, May 27, 2019 beginning at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue in Sarasota. There will be several tow away zones and street closure notices that will be in place for Monday, May 27, 2019.

Boating Safety Inspection Day Saturday, May 18, 2019
On Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Sarasota Police Department and the Civilian Volunteer Marine Program will partner with the United States Coast Guard Flotilla 84 and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission for an Interagency Boating Safety Inspection Day at Centennial Park.

The Sarasota Police Department Crisis Negotiation Unit (CNU), Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and Detective Anthony DeFrancisco were honored Monday night during Congressman Vern Buchanan’s 16th District Congressional Law Enforcement Awards.

Click It or Ticket Safety Campaign Begins Monday, May 13th
To help keep drivers and passengers stay safe, the Sarasota Police Department is reminding motorists to Click It or Ticket. Aimed at enforcing seat belt use to help keep families safe, the national seat belt campaign will take place May 13 through June 2, concurrent with the busy travel season.

Sarasota Police Collect More than 35 Pounds of Unwanted Drugs During National Take-Back Day
On Saturday, April 27, 2019, Officers with the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit collected 38 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescriptions drugs during the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Robbery and Accidental Shooting at Bella Sol Apartments Under Investigation
Two juveniles are facing charges of Robbery with a Firearm (felony) following a robbery attempt and shooting at 1201 Signal Pointe Circle, Sarasota, just before 5 p.m., on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. Detectives do not believe the incident was random and the victim and suspects knew one another.

Two People Arrested in Connection to Armed Robbery at Publix
Two people have been arrested in connection to an armed robbery that occurred at Publix, 3825 South Osprey Avenue, Sarasota, on March 27, 2019. Quantevius Ghee, 24, of Tampa, and Kylee Follett, 19, of Bradenton, were arrested by Officers with the Tampa Police Department on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

Traffic stop leads to 397 grams of MDMA, two firearms & illegal narcotics
Christopher Brown, 31, of Sarasota, is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop late Monday night in the City of Sarasota. The traffic stop resulted in the seizure of 397 grams of MDMA, two 9mm handguns (one loaded), 2 grams of cocaine, marijuana and a digital scale.
