Troche appointed as Sarasota chief of police Swearing-in ceremony to be held April 29
City Manager Marlon Brown has appointed Rex Troche to serve as Sarasota’s next chief of police. Troche, who began his career with the Sarasota Police Department in 2002, has served as the interim chief since August 2021. Troche will serve as Sarasota’s 13th police chief and the first Hispanic chief

The Sarasota Police Department executed a search warrant at a home at 1331 15th Street, Sarasota on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, just after 9 a.m. Two adults were arrested, and illegal narcotics and a firearm were seized from the house.

William Devonshire, 52, has been arrested and is facing charges of Murder in connection to the death of Kelliann Ripley, 48, of Sarasota. The family of Ms. Ripley shared with Sarasota Police Department detectives over the weekend they are allowing Ms. Ripley’s name to be released publicly.
